Discover Saïdia, the Moroccan Blue Pearl
Morocco is a trendy destination for many reasons. We like the Moroccan culture, its people, the landscapes and besides, we have the opportunity to have amazing new experiences that we will want to live again. Today we are going to present the little and impressive Saïdia, a town that has a great beauty and is located at the north-east of Morocco. It belongs to province Berkane near the Moroccan-Algerian border and it is considered as the Blue Pearl of the Mediterranean or the Moroccan Caribbean due to the beauty blue color that is reflected in the sea. The local population reaches almost 4000 inhabitants.
This place gives off a unique charm, not only because of the natural environment, the coasts, beaches, mountains and deserts, but also because of the old city, the Souk and the Cashba fortress that make you enjoy a cultural visit and discover the history of such a pintoresque area.
On the one hand, the old town stands out for the narrow streets which reach old squares. This place nowadays hosts shops, bars and restaurants but still brings an exceptional atmosphere. The Cashba is located very close to this area, and it is a 19th century fortress which was built to watch the nearby border with Argelia that was at that time under French mandate. There is also a Souk, a flea market that is held every Sunday outdoors and attracts the interest of the inhabitants and visitors.
Saïdia’s Cornice in Boulevard Mohamed V is a nice place to walk, it is a very interesting point to meet and admire the sunset.
The Sports Marina offers different activities and water sports and also you will find sailing, water skiing and scuba diving schools. The Marina is part of the Mediterranea Saïdia touristic complex situated 2 km from the town, was built in 2009 and still today is in constant development. The complex has also a shopping area with all kinds of restaurants and discos.
This place attracts and holds the interest because of the beauty of the impressive white sand beaches and transparent waters. The main beach is very extensive up to 14 kilometer in length, and that makes this place the best option for relax and have the most pleasant vacation. Summer in this area is long, warm, rainless and the best period to visit Saïdia.
